People always ask, what made me want to become a cantor. The truth is I love to sing. I come from a musical family where singing was the main event whether in a talent show or performing for family anniversaries or doing Purim shpiels. (for example, I was Michael Jackson in a Jewish parody of Thriller)
I grew up at Beth Tikvah synagogue in Toronto, where at an early age I would listen to Rabbi Avraham Feder z’l who was both a Rabbi and talented Cantor.
It was there that I fell in love with the melodies of the Hebrew liturgy.
Currently I am the Chazzan Sheni at Adath Israel synagogue. I am continuing my studies in chazzanut with Cantor David Nemtzov and I am also studying voice with Dr. Robert Loewen from the Royal Conservatory of Music.
